1. Who is Dr. N D Vaidya?
Dr. Natoobhai D. Vaidya, G.F.A.M (Bom), was one of India's most renowned Ayurvedic doctors. Like any other doctor, he ran his practice through a very successful clinic in Mumbai. During his prime, he had a practice of approximately 300 patients per day as well as a postal practice of more than 9000 patients across India and 3000 patients across the UK and Germany. At that time (and even in today's scenario) he was one of the only doctors who prescribed his own formulations manufactured in his own facility. Today, he has left behind a rich legacy and 96 FDA approved formulations for various kinds of Ayurvedic medicines. Dr. Vaidya's: New age Ayurveda is carrying his legacy forward to the modern consumer.
2. What is Ayurveda?
Much before allopathy and homeopathy, an ancient science called Ayurveda arose. Ayurveda is the science of healing with herbs, fruits and minerals from nature's bounty. It is one of the oldest scientific medical systems in the world, with a long record of clinical experience of famous Ayurvedic sages like Dhanvantri, Sushruta and Charaka further carried on by Vaids. The word "Ayu" means all aspects of life from birth to death. The word "Veda" means knowledge or learning. Hence Ayurveda indicates the science by which life in its totality is understood. At Dr. Vaidya's we rely on the 150 years on painstaking research of the Vaidya family that has given us our proprietary formulations.
3. How is Ayurveda different from allopathic/modern medicines?
Modern medicines treat and remove symptoms in the short term rather than the root cause of patient suffering. Ayurveda on the other hand, makes special contributions by addressing the uniqueness of each patient and by helping each body to heal from the root cause of the ailment. Thus, Ayurveda looks at a longer term solution to patient suffering.
4. What is Dr.Vaidya's?
Dr. Vaidya's is a new age Ayurvedic products business founded by a family with 150 years of Ayurvedic heritage. Over the last 150 years, family members have passed down formulations from generation to generation and treated thousands of patients in the process. Today, the company owns 96 FDA approved formulations for Ayurvedic proprietary medicines, all manufactured in-house.
5. What is New Age Ayurveda?
At Dr. Vaidya's we are looking to revolutionize the way Ayurvedic products are marketed. We aim to create new age products that make Ayurveda cool, sexy, fun and aspirational for the modern consumer in a form that is appealing and convenient. We aim to give this traditional science a modern twist.
Yoga is an ancient Indian art form that was taken by the West, packaged in a modern form and now, (with yoga mats and yoga apparel) it is a USD 36b industry. We believe that Ayurveda is at this inflection point and our desire is to help grow this science globally through a new age approach.
6. Why is Ayurveda unique as compared to other systems of medicine?
It is one of the oldest scientific medical systems in the world, with a long record of clinical experience from Ayurvedic sages and scriptures. Other than being a form of medicine, Ayurveda is also a way of life that teaches us how to maintain healthy human systems and longevity. Ayurveda treats man as a "whole" – which is a combination of body, mind and soul. Therefore it is a truly holistic and integrative medical system.
7. What kind of ailments does Dr. Vaidya's cater to?

11. Are Ayurvedic medicines used for chronic ailments only?
A large number of people look towards allopathy for a cure to an ailment. When the results are negative, they turn to Ayurveda. By this time the disease becomes chronic. Therefore there is a misconception that Ayurvedic drugs cannot be used for minor ailments like cold, cough, fever, acidity, loose motions and other aches and pains. At Dr. Vaidya's we have formulations that do treat such minor, non-chronic ailments as well.
12. What is the aim of Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is the science of positive health and fulfillment in life. The aim of Ayurveda is threefold: * To achieve positive health for the individual * Protection of the masses * Ultimate liberation. The last goal can be achieved by following regulations of daily conduct and by following strict seasonal regimens, so that one can be constantly healthy. Being continuously healthy is comparable to achieving ultimate liberation, as it involves the eradication of the factors that bring about suffering.
